Faema E.61, 4 groups, 1961
SOLD OUT - PRICE ON REQUEST
We want to tell you the fascinating story of an icon in the world of espresso machines: the famous E.61 model by Faema.
The name "E.61" is not random, but draws inspiration from a celestial event, a solar eclipse that occurred way back in 1961.
The E.61 model represents the culmination of numerous patents and the evolution of previous models. One of the most significant innovations was the management of the water for the coffee, which no longer came from the boiler, but directly from the water network and passed through a resin softener to eliminate limescale. A volumetric pump pushed the water, pressurized at 9 bar, through a heat exchanger positioned inside the steam boiler, bringing it to the ideal temperature for coffee extraction.
After these preparation phases, the water entered the dispensing group, passing through the ground coffee in approximately 25 seconds. But the revolution did not end here. The new brewing unit, separate from the boiler, was constantly kept at the perfect temperature thanks to a "radiator" system, ensuring that each cup was an authentic work of art.
Another epochal innovation introduced on this model was the "infusion" system, which involved the preliminary sending of a minimum quantity of hot water at low pressure to the dispensing group. This allowed the coffee powder to be moistened before complete dispensing, allowing maximum extraction of the precious aromatic substances.
The success of this model was extraordinary, leading Faema to gain predominant market shares throughout the world. But its legacy goes much further, as the principles of water heating and pressurization introduced by the E.61 are still the basis of the operation of many modern espresso machines today.
We ship worldwide, making sure that the machine arrives to its new owner in perfect condition, thanks to a special wooden crate designed to protect it during transport.
